Restoration
Renovation and restoration of the Tündern Windmill — 2025 to 2026
The Plan
- Commissioning an expert assessment of the scope and costs of the necessary work
- Funding applications to potential grant providers
- Tendering of construction work and quotations
- Quotation for the replacement of the mill sails
How It Went
- Removal of the old sails late June/early July 2025
- Scaffolding of the windmill in July 2025
- Removal of the old plaster
- Repair of damaged areas in the masonry
- Application of new plaster from September 2025
- Renewal of the paintwork
- Installation of the new sails in March 2026
What's Still to Come
- Preparation and maintenance of the outdoor area
- Construction of sanitary facilities
- Repairs and renovation of the windmill interior
- Development of an educational concept for guided visits
- Offering guided tours
